Meet the Herd: Aurora Dew

This is Aurora, daughter of Elouisa, half sister of Bolt (you haven’t met yet) and niece of Marc Anthony.

As you can see, she is fawn in colour….. or is she? I have registered her as fawn, but she has a little white spot on her forehead, and white ankles, and I think I can see white hairs in her coat. That would make her a light rose grey.

Confusing isn’t it?

Her mum, Elouisa, is dark rose grey but looks brown with white bits. Her dad, Fowberry Lucien, was white. I have registered her as fawn, but now I’m not so sure!

I guess it doesn’t really matter. I won’t be showing her as last year would have been her year and all the shows were cancelled. This year she will be having a liaison with one of our boys, probably Tibbs, as she is a big girl now; as big as most of the adult females.

Her sire, Fowberry Lucien, had a very auspicious showing career winning several championship ribbons and reserve championships. Her maternal grandsire was one of the most prolific sires of alpacas in the UK. As you can see from the other picture she has a fine crimpy fleece which looks sort of apricot in colour; who wouldn’t look good in a pashmina of that colour?

Looking forward to seeing what colour cria she produces next year. Whatever colour it is, I truly hope it has Aurora’s lovely confident, friendly disposition. She’s such a love!
