Bertie

Today’s profile is of Solomons’ Burlington Bertie.
Bertie is not quite a year old yet, having been born on 5/5/2020.
Sadly though, he is pretty much an orphan, as his sire is not part of our herd so he never met him, and his dam (mum) was Emmanuelle who sadly died recently.
Poor Bertie.
He is probably not aware of her passing though, as he was weaned about four months ago and now lives in unruly splendor with four other youngsters, right away from the ladies.
Bertie is distinct from all the others in two major ways. Firstly he is not pure (solid) white. If you look closely you may be able to make out that the front center and left of his neck is fawn, quite a big patch too. we will be better able to see if he has any other patches when he is shorn the weekend after next. I will take pictures, of course.
He is also the biggest yearling I have ever seen. He is a good four inches taller than his mates who were born just before, or just after him. Neither his dam or sire were very big, so I don’t know where it comes from I’m sure.
Bertie will most probably be leaving us, we are trying to run a business after all, and he is closely related to most of the girls, so won’t be much use as a stud to us. However, if he is still with us when he reaches maturity, it will be fun to see if he passes his strange colouration to a cria; now who can I set him up with……?
